The Roux Scholarship 2020/21
It’s been a long wait, but last night the winner of The Roux Scholarship 2020/21 was finally named at an exclusive awards dinner at Westminster Kingsway College.
Founded in 1984 by Michel Roux with his brother Albert the prestigious competition has changed the lives of hundreds of chefs since its inception in 1983, with its competitors and winners going on to change the landscape of the British dining.
The competition’s return following the incredibly difficult time the hospitality industry has suffered during the pandemic, also marks the first time a new scholar has been named since the passing of both its founders.
The final cook-off was presided over by this year’s Honorary President of Judges Björn Frantzén, from three-Michelin-starred Restaurant Frantzén in Stockholm. The winner was then announced at the dinner in front of a small audience comprising of the finalists’ guests, sponsors and judges.
